Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi met with Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence, to discuss regional geostrategic developments and explore new avenues for strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.
The Indian Army, in a post on X, stated: “Forging Stronger Bonds — Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General, Ministry of Defence, Israel, called on General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS. They engaged in discussions focused on geostrategic developments in the region, explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral Defence Cooperation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting regional stability.”
The high-level meeting underscored India and Israel’s shared vision of enhanced security collaboration and long-term strategic engagement in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment.
Earlier on Wednesday, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh also held bilateral discussions with the visiting Israeli DG. Both sides agreed to advance defence cooperation through a structured institutional framework, according to an official statement.
During the meeting, Major General Baram condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 lives, including a foreign national, and extended Israel’s solidarity in India’s fight against terrorism.
Defence Secretary Singh reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and condemned the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in Israel, calling for the release of all hostages.
The two nations also reviewed progress on ongoing defence projects since the last Joint Working Group meeting held in July 2024, reinforcing their mutual resolve to deepen strategic ties.
The visit of Major General (Res) Amir Baram is seen as a significant step forward in bolstering India-Israel defence cooperation and regional stability.
